Four Tips to Starting or Exploring a Plant-Based Diet When You’re Just Starting Out
So perhaps you’re getting down to the nitty-gritty of starting a plant-based diet. It sounds exciting, you’re completely open to trying something new, but where do you start? It’s seems ominous to try something new you know nothing about.
Allow us to help. Here are four tips to get you rolling into an exciting new food adventure: Start with your favorite veggie and go from there. You don’t have to have a thousands ingredients to make a successful plant-based dish. Research recipes. The last thing you want to do is buy a bunch of vegetables or grains and have no idea what to do with them.
Use recipes that combine the same ingredients in different ways- save time and money trying to use up a huge assortment of veggies or grains (which gets overwhelming and leads to “well let’s just order in- it’s too much work).
Enlist a buddy. Everything’s better with friends. Plan a night to get a hot yoga or barre sesh in and then plan to make a plant-based meal afterward. It’s always exciting to try new things, and if worse comes to worst and it doesn’t turn out exactly as you thought it would, you’ll have a shared a fun experience, and if it turns out to be PHENOMENAL (which, let’s be honest it will be) you’ll have a new idea of how delicious your life can be, and repeat the performance!
